Anniversary Message

ani.JPG

It was my Anniversary Message to my wife. I wrote it in 2012.

Walking together with you for seven years has given me abundant inspiration, sense of responsibility and meaning of life and love. Hadn’t it been for you, I would be incomplete and insensible. Your love, care and dedication have made a tremendous impact in my life. I can never forget the moments you cared for me even though you yourself were sick. You held my hands for the first time at Ekantakuna with tears in your eyes. You gave me such a wonderful son and a lovely family. You looked after my mother when she was sick. You did my college works (admission, submitting assessment and library works). You loved me more than life. You sacrificed your wish and desire just for my happiness. It was me, who should be buying you gold rings, necklace, earrings etc., but it was you who happily sold your necklace for the TV and other ornaments for the loans my parents had to pay. You taught me what the love and responsibility are. You encouraged me to study further. You have made a tremendous impact in my life.

I am thankful to God that he has given me the best wife. In spite of all, you have done for me, I being poor can do nothing for you! Sorry for that!

I want to quote a poem from W. B. Yeats just for you.

Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,

Enwrought with golden and silver light,

The blue and the dim and the dark cloths

Of night and light and the half-light,

I would spread the cloths under your feet:

But I, being poor, have only my dreams;

I have spread my dreams under your feet;

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

With a lot of love, I wish you Happy 7th Marriage Anniversary!

Tears of JOY !

tears_of_joy_by_lowoncash1-d5iqmdq

“I have realised that I do not need to climb Mount Everest to reach the unreachable. I do not need to flood the whole of Nepal with my kindness. What I need to do is to reach these people. Be a small candle of transformation.”

‘Can you tell more about you and your family? my friend asked an elderly woman on whose lap an eight-year-old grandson was sitting quietly. ‘His father died some years ago and mother left him with me and took another man. I’m taking care of him’, she answered with sobs.

This conversation took place in a private school of Palpa where KISC EQUIP has been training teachers and school leaders, distributing scholarships to needy children, working for classroom libraries, mini-science-labs and conducting parent seminars. The amount of money given as scholarship doesn’t match the joy it brings to these downtrodden people. They might have a hope to see their children get a good education and turn into ‘THULO MANCHHE’ ( a great person). The tears rolling down on her cheeks clearly foreshadowed the joy of distant dream coming true.

I hardly understand the science of TEAR, but I can differentiate between sorrow and the joy it portrays. This grandmother’s bright face was loudly telling she was more than happy. She showed her gratitude with her hands joining together for NAMASTE (a gesture for greeting in Nepali). Other two mothers whose children were receiving scholarship echoed the same gratitude and story. I didn’t have time to ponder, before this, on the impact of seemingly a little amount of money for these village children and their family. I can now clearly visualise their family enjoying their dinner (DAL BHAT) with tears of joy, telling their neighbour about it and blessing the child for his/her bright future.

How much is enough for happiness? What makes a person happy? The answer is simple: a little love, generosity and kindness. Some generous people are making this scholarship possible. They are the real heroes who spare a little amount possible to give away. They might not know what that money can do. They surely do not intend to induce sobs and tears, but it happens. It brings joy and happiness to poor villagers. It helps them to realise their dream.

I have realised that I do not need to climb Mount Everest to reach the unreachable. I do not need to flood the whole of Nepal with my kindness. What I need to do is to reach these people. Be a small candle of transformation. Spare a little amount of money and give away! A thousand rupees can change a life and can force someone to bring TEARS of JOY!
